This Island is famous for its Pinnacle, a lava formation which grows from the ocean’s border and it’s considered the best representation of Galapagos Islands.

About fauna, in Bartolome we find the Galapagos Penguins, the only specie of Penguins found in the north of Equator. The Sea Lions sleep in the rock platforms, ready to skate into the water and play funnily with people who do snorkel. Under the ocean’s surface, Tropical Fishes hide in the rocks, where it’s possible to observe Sea Stars and other ocean life. A sandy white – pink beach is located next to the pinnacle. The Sea Tortoises deposit their eggs at the beach and sometimes they can be found on the water, or resting in the sand.

The Penguins rest in the rocks, less than 1 kilometer along the bay. In here, the walls under water from a little volcanic Crater form a landscape similar to a pool. The dry landing is the entrance to a 600 meter trail with 300 stairs up to the Top of Bartolome. The route is not difficult, there’s a particular view known as moon surface because of the presence of many extinguished volcanoes in different grades of erosion. When you get to the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Santiago Island and James Bay in the west, far away you can see the Pinnacle and the beach, where the blue waters from the bay nest the boat.
